May 27, 2008 – River valleys west of Bozeman MT

Missouri Headwaters State Park
Photo ops: confluence of Gallatin, Madison and Jefferson, Missouri Rivers, riparian habitat, I-90, pollution, fishing, management of protected land, The Holcim Cement Kiln.

Jefferson River Basin
Photo ops: car-body reinforced embankment, Jefferson River, farmland, irrigation, historic homestead, wildlife.

Madison River Basin
Photo ops: hilly, arid land, farming, ranching, Madison Range, Cedar Creek Alluvial Fan., Madison River Canyon Earthquake Area, Quake Lake, Hebgen Dam, Lake Hebgen.

Gallatin River Basin
Photo ops: wetlands, river, mountain ranges.

Yellowstone River Basin (from Livingston to Gardiner: 56 miles)

Yellowstone National Park (from Gardiner to Cooke City via Lamar Valley)
Visit: North Entrance, Mammoth Hot Springs, 45th Parallel, Lamar Valley, Lamar River, Soda Butte Creek, Ice Box Canyon, Northeastern Entrance, Silver Gate, Cooke City.
