White Salmon River

In 2007 NWNL visited this river to document its 100-year-old Condit Dam. (NWNL photos of the Condit Dam)

In 2011 the dam, having been deemed too old to be safe and too expensive to repair, was removed. The following photos show the river running freely in 2014 with restored habitats for returning salmon migrations. The Yakima Nation is responsible for restoration replanting of the former lakebed, surrounded by orange fences.
